Connective tissue grafting treats areas of the gums where significant recession has occurred. Gum recession can leave the tooth root surface exposed, causing many problems including increased sensitivity, discomfort, and an esthetically compromised smile. Root decay may also occur.
The connective tissue grafting procedure uses the patient’s own gum tissue to cover areas of recession to improve the overall health and appearance of the smile. Alloderm alternative may also be used in place of the patient’s gum tissue.
