GOOD & BAD HABITS FOR YOUR TEETH

Teeth are valuable gems of the human body. Without these pearls, you cannot enjoy the beauty and gifts of nature. They give you the chance of enjoying both your health as well as your wealth. ABC dental care is determined to help you save and preserve this treasure for lifetime.

GOOD HABITS:
 Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
 Use a soft/medium tooth brush with vibratory and up down movements. Do not apply to and fro strokes with your brush.
 Use dental floss daily after meals.
 Limit snacks and drinks that are high in sugar.
 Avoid sticky sweets e.g. chocolates.
 Limit the use of synthetic sugars in your meals.
 Cut down on snacks in between meals.
 Limit the use of beverages having acidic PH e.g. Cola drinks, citric juices etc.
 Drink plenty of water.
 Visit Abc dental care for regular dental checkup.

BAD HABITS:
 Thumb sucking habit in children usually around the age of 5 or 6 years can cause permanent changes affecting tooth and jaw structure leading to mal-alignment of teeth.
 Excessive intake of lemon juices and carbonated drinks can cause tooth enamel erosion and creates a rough texture of enamel on the surface of your tooth.
 Brushing too vigorously can cause more harm than good. Brushing your teeth too hard can wear down enamel, irritate your gums, make your teeth sensitive to cold, and even contribute towards cavities.
 Frequent clenching or grinding of teeth due to stressful life cause tooth wear.
 Many people use their teeth to break off a tag on clothing, rip open a packet of potato chips and even unscrew bottle tops. Using your teeth as a tool is a threat to dental health and can result in a damaged restoration or a cracked tooth.
 Frequent use of chocolates and sticky foods.
 Mother keeps feeders/nursing bottles in their infant’s mouth to keep them from weeping or disturbing them from their activities. These feeders provide a media for the bacteria to grow and cause dental caries due to continuous supply of sweeteners.
 People wake up late in the morning and brush their teeth in a hurry without concentration. In this way, they do not get any benefits. Proper brushing is needed to remove all the debris and cariogenic plaque. It requires at least 4-5 minutes.
 Inter meal snacks are a threat to the safety of teeth. Frequency of sticky foods between meals should not be too high otherwise it will provide a niche for cariogenic bacteria.
